The mission of 4-H Program Office is to enable youth to be engaged in the following: partnerships with caring adults, positive learning environments, developing to their fullest potential, and learning life skills.

The 4-H Program Office values individuality and uniqueness in youth, family, and communities. We also value creating partnerships and coalitions that work for the betterment of youth in our community and across the state, and combining strength of local programming in cooperation with the land-grant university, South Dakota State University.

In essence, the 4-H Program Office is a youth-development focused organization with a goal of strengthening youth, families, and the community by developing young individuals into productive members of society.

NOTE: The lines of authority for the Minnehaha County 4-H/Youth Development Office are somewhat irregular. 4-H/Youth Development Advisors are employees of the State with supervision from the State Extension Service through SDSU. Control over the office and its functions are carried jointly by the State Extension Services and the County Commissioners.

In addition, due to the restructuring of the State Extension Services that happened across South Dakota in the fall of 2011, educators involved in livestock, agronomy, family and consumer sciences, etc. are now housed in eight regional centers across the state. The Sioux Falls Regional Center is located at 2001 E. 8th St and can be reached at 605.782.3290. Please direct all Extension inquires not related to 4-H/Youth Programming to this center.
