The Sheriff’s Department Explorer Post 11 has been busy the past year. Each year the Explorers assist at the Sioux Empire County Fair with providing Identification bracelets to young children. We have also recently assisted at the F.O.P. 9/11 steak fry helping out with games, directing traffic, and clean up for the event.
The Explorer post also traveled to Flagstaff, AZ for the National Law Enforcement Explorers Conference. Every two years Explorers from across the United States gather for opportunity to compete and participate in hands on learning seminars. Some of the presenters at this year’s conference included the F.B.I., D.E.A., A.T.F., and the U.S. Immigration and Customs service. For more information on this Years National Law Enforcement Explorers Conference visit the Learning-for-life.org web site and click on the 2006 NLEEC BOLO link.
Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are 14 years of age, or are 15 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.
Law Enforcement Explorer posts help youth to gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities. For young men and women who are interested in careers in the field of law enforcement, Exploring offers experiential learning with lots of fun-filled, hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youth. For more information about the Explorer program and a complete list of eligibility requirements visit the learning for life web site. http://www.learning-for-life.org/exploring.
