4300 North Westport Avenue Sioux Falls
Construction is slated to begin this fall for the long-awaited Siouxland Heritage Museums collections storage facility. The new 30,000-square-foot building will house the 108,000 cataloged items that make up the Siouxland Heritage Museums collection, workspaces for the museum’s collection management staff and volunteers, and a public research space.
The new building will be located at 4300 North Westport Avenue and will be built on land Bob and Kari Hall donated several years ago. The project is expected to cost $3.7 million, with funding provided by Minnehaha County, the city of Sioux Falls, and private donations.
Peska Construction was awarded the bid to construct the facility at the joint meeting of the Sioux Falls City Council and Minnehaha County Commission on July 25th. Construction is expected to begin in early September with a formal ground breaking ceremony scheduled on Thursday, October 12th at 11:30 a.m. The project is expected to be completed by August of 2018.
