Show Us What Matters to You in the Upcoming Meaningful Places Exhibit!
Do you like to take photographs or tell stories? One of the new projects the Museums are doing is the upcoming Meaningful Places exhibit. We are asking people to take pictures and share stories of places in or around Sioux Falls and Minnehaha County that are or have been important in their lives. We believe history is in the eye of the beholder. Some people may see only an old building or an empty field, while others may look and remember a favorite candy store, their first job, or that picnic spot where they used to take their sweetheart. Tell us why your place is memorable and why the story should be preserved.

Photos can be in color or black and white. Videos should be between 2 and 5 minutes long. The text about your photo or your video should be submitted at the same time. All of the details and entry forms will be posted on our website www.siouxlandmuseums.com in early March.

Author Brings The Long Way Home to Old Courthouse Museum April 27th
Of the 2.5 million soldiers who fought with U.S. in France and Belgium in World War  I, nearly one out of every five men were immigrants. In The Long Way Home, David Laskin, author of the prize-winning history The Children’s Blizzard, tells the stories of twelve of these immigrant heroes. Laskin unfolds the saga of their journeys to Ellis Island, their struggles to start over in the land of opportunity, and the ordeal of their return to Europe in uniform to fight—and win—a war that had already killed tens of millions.
