The Teels have been sharing music for nearly 30 years. The traditional bluegrass sound has always been at their musical roots. Much of their music takes on the flavor of many of the contemporary bluegrass bands and with the addition of players like Rick Stoops, Dalton and Sam Coffey their music becomes a great expression of the musical style that so many have come to enjoy. The Teels are blend of rich vocal harmonies and quality instrumental performances that all come together to offer a polished sound of traditional music.

Folk, Farm, Family
Catered by The Pickle Barrel
Singer/songwriter Marty DeWitt will be sharing a program of popular folk tunes from the 70’s through today, along with several original numbers inspired by his nearly forty years of working in state parks. His subjects run the gamut from life on the family farm to life experiences in the great outdoors. He’s also known for taking a more humorous look at life through song. This will be a fun concert for young and old alike!
Marty recently retired after more than 30 years with the SD state park system. He has performed with a number of different groups over the years, including the Over Forte Orchestra and Madison Street Blues from Pierre, as well as church folk groups in Madison, Pierre, Canton and Garretson. Folk music has always been his favorite. With many a John Denver classic sung around many a campfire, Marty hopes to keep folks.

Murder Mystery Returns to Pettigrew in January!
Edward Channing, his wife, daughter, and son have come to Sioux Falls to attend the funeral of Edward’s mother. The death was sudden but not unexpected. However, John Channing, Edward’s father, has fallen ill and signs point to poison, raising suspicions about Mrs. Channing’s death as well. All of the Channings and the two servants had motive and the opportunity to commit the poisoning. The suspects have been held at the home until a full investigation can be conducted.
We are asking you to help the investigators determine who is responsible for this crime. Participants will be taken through the home to hear statements from each of the suspects. After the tour you will sit down with the lead detective for a chance to ask questions then propose your theory of the crime. Once each participant has discussed their theory, the lead detective will then reveal what really happened.
Tickets for the Murder Mystery, Toxic Inheritance, are $10 per person and go on sale January 7th. Shows will be January 20th, 21st, 27th, and 28th at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, and 8:00p.m. Purchase tickets in person at the Old Courthouse Museum , or by credit card over the phone at 367-4210 (a $2 surcharge will be added to each phone order).
Don’t miss this once a year opportunity to tour the Pettigrew Home while trying to solve a mystery.
Wallace Dow: Prairie Architect
Exhibit Opening January 19th at the Pettigrew!
Architect Wallace Dow designed countless structures in the region during his career. On the vast South Dakota prairie once stood unique homes and buildings that reflected creativity, encompassed diverse building materials, and brought new architectural styles like Queen Anne, Richardsonian Romanesque, and many other eclectic styles to the growing community. Some, including the Old Courthouse and Pettigrew Home, still stand as a testament to his skill, creativity, and style 100 years after his death in 1911. Come to the exhibit opening reception on Thursday, January 19th from 4-6 p.m. at the Pettigrew Home and Museum to explore the wondrous structures that once stood on the streets of Sioux Falls and surrounding communities.
