1968 Vietnam Dog Tags
1968 Vietnam Dog Tags

Military dog tags are used for the identification of soldiers.  The soldier’s name, identification number, and religion are listed.  The rubber edging is used to prevent them from making noise during combat.

For one generation of Americans, no two words can conjure as much emotion and memories as the Vietnam War. The stories of the men and women who were stationed in Vietnam as well as the stories of loved ones still at home are going to be the topic of an upcoming exhibit at the Old Courthouse Museum. These dog tags were donated to the museums in April of this year by Larry Schrag, who received them in 1968 when joining the military.  We are currently looking for people who are willing to share their stories and memories with us, along with donating or loaning photographs and objects that reflect both the events of the Vietnam War and what happened here at home. Please contact Paavo Rasmussen at (605) 367-4210 if you have any questions.
