No Power, No Problem
Brace, ca. 1890 SHM 42.10.37 The wooden knob on the top of this brace was held by one hand while the other hand held the center handle, turning the bit into the wood. This all-wood brace has some brass plating and a brass chuck to hold the bits. Many versions of wooden braces were made until the end of the nineteeth century.
