Two Keyboards, Two Voices, Two Brothers

 

Jeremy and Jonathon Hegg are the sons of two lifelong music educators, grew up in Dell Rapids and Madison, South Dakota and received music degrees from Augustana College in Sioux Falls. They have performed with a wide variety of musical groups both local and national. Their joint efforts began with Spooncat!, moved onto duets, their most frequent configuration, and the annual Holiday Jam concert tour.

Sioux Falls Chamber Music Collective is a platform to promote all types of chamber/small ensemble music in Sioux Falls! We will surprise you with different types of fun pieces introduced by an eclectic group of fun musicians as well. We support and promote all types of small ensemble concert projects with a variety of musical styles, classical, early music, Jazz, contemporary, pop…etc.

The goal is to reach out to people who enjoy music in a more intimate and interactive setting.

Learn the Norwegian art of Rosemaling (or decorative painting) by watching Eileen Halverson demonstrate at the Old Courthouse Museum on July 21st and August 18th from 1-4 p.m. Stop in any time during the demonstration to observe or ask questions.

Learn about art of Native cultures.

Learn about history and make your own crafts to take home! Call to register in advance. Kids Activity Day is free. Children will be given the opportunity to make a craft while learning about history.  The program has two sessions; the morning session is from 9 to 11 a.m., afternoon sessions from 1-2:00 p.m., and creative learning programs run every 15 minutes throughout the sessions.

Kid’s Activity Day is a make and take craft program offered year around on the third Thursday of every month at the Old Courthouse Museum.  Children 3-12 are invited to participate.  Please register by calling (605) 367-4210 or email museum@minnehahacounty.org

Nationally touring, award winning songwriter Julie Patchouli and master guitarist Bruce Hecksel light up the air with sparkling acoustic sounds and their powerful contagious chemistry. Famous for that smiling voice that instantly turns a bad day into a good one, Patchouli’s down-to-earth, hopeful songwriting is “New American Folk” blending elements of folk, pop, flamenco and jazz with world beat rhythms. Patchouli’s sound has been described as “the harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel meet the guitar brilliance of the Gipsy Kings.

JAS Quintet is one of South Dakota’s premier jazz ensembles. Formed in 2012 and based in Sioux Falls the ensemble continues to perform concert and festival dates throughout the region. JAS features the classic jazz quintet instrumentation of trumpet, saxophone, piano, bass and drums. Their repertoire is a diverse mix of old and new, featuring many original arrangements by members of the band. Concerts include favorites from Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, and contemporary artists. You are sure to hear many familiar tunes during a JAS concert along with a few new jazz classics. The members of the JAS Quintet are recognized as some of the finest jazz musicians and educators in the region. Touring extensively throughout South Dakota, JAS Quintet has established a reputation as one of the top jazz ensembles in the region.

JAS Quintet features Jimmy Speirs (trumpet), Joel Shotwell (saxophone), Jeff Paul (piano), Andrew Reinartz (bass), and Daniel Heier (drums).
