Curtis & Loretta

Original and Traditional British and American Songs

Curtis & Loretta’s music comes straight from the heart. The husband and wife duo’s extraordinary harmonies and proficiency on a parade of stringed instruments create an alluring frame for their poignant original songs, and carefully chosen traditional pieces from the British Isles, America, and beyond. The current menagerie includes Celtic harp, mandocello, mandolin, guitars, clawhammer banjo, and National steel ukulele, plus a bit of kazoo, harmonica, and shakers.

Mogen’s Heroes

Fine-Tuned Harmony & Humor

Mogen’s Heroes is a fine-tuned trio that has been pleasing Midwestern audiences since 1978. Like the South Dakota weather, they are apt to change styles in a matter of minutes.

Founded by Waubay, S.D. native John Mogen (keyboards), the group features two other home-grown musicians: Bill Hoffman (drums and a Redfield, S.D. rhythm master) and Denny Gale (guitar and a Wagner warbler). Gale’s writing wit is witness to his many years with the Associated Press. Hoffman’s incredibly versatile vocals highlight the Heroes’ harmonies. Mogen’s one-third century in music education rounds out this trio’s personality. This threesome thoroughly enjoys having fun with music. They blend humor with harmonies to please all ages.

Hampden Rounders

Hampden Rounders

Old-Time Music

The three members of the Hampden Rounders have been playing music for a total of 140 years. That’s almost 3500 chipmunk years. Pop Wagner, Anni Spring and Adam Granger, who have been friends for about as long, started playing informally at St Paul’s Hampden Park Coop and, after a couple of years, decided they’d better give themselves a proper name and actually be a band.

The Rounders guarantee a fun, easygoing show chock-full of old-timey fiddle tunes and swing, bluegrass and folk songs, with a few originals thrown in for good measure. WARNING: The Hampden Rounders cannot guarantee that silliness and frivolity will not ensue.
