200 W. 6th St. Sioux Falls
The Laura Ingalls Wilder Fact & Fiction program has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6th at the Old Courthouse Museum. Has this year’s “long winter” made you think a little about Laura Ingalls Wilder? Join us at the Old Courthouse to hear more about Laura’s life – what is fact, and what is fiction- through stories and photos. Tessa Flak, Executive Director of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society, will talk about how the stories Laura wrote and the TV series based on her life mirror reality. Was there really a Mr. Edwards? How about Nellie Oleson? She will also discuss Laura’s time as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Dakota.
The Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society is located in De Smet, SD, and offers tours through several original buildings associated with the Ingalls family including the Original Surveyors’ House, the home Pa built in 1887, and the original one-room schoolhouse that Laura and Carrie attended in De Smet.
Admission to the program is free. Many of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books are also available to purchase in the Museum Store.
