Construction on the new Irene Hall Museum Resource Center at 4300 North Westport Avenue is near completion. Construction on the project began on August 28, 2017, and the substantial completion inspection was conducted on July 9, 2018, nearly one month ahead of schedule. Museum staff training on controls and systems has been completed, and the building was turned over to museum staff on August 2nd. The first steps toward opening the building involve building hundreds of shelving units in the storage area and moving over one hundred thousand artifacts from the Old Courthouse Museum, Pettigrew Home & Museum, and off-site storage locations. The re-location of the collection began on August 9th and will continue for several months. A ribbon cutting and public opening is tentatively scheduled for early November of this year.
